One thing that drives me nuts about 90% of businesses, especially in this country, is lack of balls. Everyone is afraid to do anything creative or interesting because there is a risk to doing something that someone hasn’t done before. This is why commercials and ads are almost always boring. Boring gives you guaranteed mediocre results, interesting/funny gives you potentially larger gain, but equally potentially less gain. More attention in a positive or negative way. I won’t go nuts on a rant here, I’m pretty sure Andy (working in advertising and having his creative/useful ideas consistently vetoed by old crotchety men at his agency) could go on much longer and be far more entertaining.
Anyways, this was a great email I got from a website I was going to buy a humidor from (for my perhaps less than legal cigars acquired in China, of all places) but didn’t end up completing the purchase because there is a place nearby in Boston I can go. I am actually considering going back and buying one now:
