About Me
Hi, I’m Rob.
Most likely you know me and/or don’t care about what I’m going to say here so I’ll keep it as short and sarcastic as I can. I’m 27 years old and all about being average except when it comes to a few things. Being a nerd, skiing, winning, and my obsession with sports or just being outdoors, in that order. Rarely do I turn down a chance at competition whether it be drinking games, basketball or tying shoe laces the quickest, it really doesn’t matter, I’ll want to win. Though outwardly I can appear normal items, I assure you I am actually borderline appallingly nerdy. Besides this website, I enjoy spending my time hacking my phone, my Jeep’s audio system, setting up unnecessarily complex wireless networks for streaming media and boring people talking about all of the above. In the ‘adult world’ I work for Rapid7, where I’m responsible for enterprise client deployments, training, everything to do with our product’s API, writing scripts for integrations, documenting all of the aforementioned items and generally being awesome. I also spend time trying to derail meetings with my sarcastic commentary whenever possible, which is where I see my real value to the company residing. Besides those things, I occasionally try to hack into things with the rest of my team.
Outside of the nerdfest, when I have time, I enjoy being narcissistic, watching Boston sports, skiing, soccer, basketball, beer or any combination of those. This next sentence used to brag about my beruit skills, which at this point are average at best since my horrific downhill mountain biking accident. Now my arm can’t full straighten out which really messes with my throws.
Currently I live in South Boston which is the best. Five minutes from downtown, few blocks walk to the beach or even better, the bars, and half the people are my age and easily mistaken for one another. No worries about creating an awkward situation due to intoxication, potentially racist comments, or professional sports affiliation here (assuming you’re a Boston fan). The social scene can best be described as ‘college’ but everyone has jobs and works during the week. If you think it’s scary/ghetto/far away from things/etc you are an idiot and probably have never been to Southie. Even the life long Southie residents have been friendly for the most part, though in Woods’ case awkward at times, i.e. if they are on his steps drinking, forcing him to salute the American flag when he tries to walk into his apartment, then stopping him a second time and forcing him to salute “Gator.”
Prior to Boston and college before that I spent a couple of years living in Colorado hence my constantly affiliating myself with out there, and the overtly obsessive attitude I have towards skiing. Its a sweet state but I couldn’t stay landlocked for too long, though I do visit three or four times a year to see friends family and the mountains.
If somehow you’ve made it this far in your reading you are probably horrendously bored so go back to the main page and read/follow the links from some of the posts I put up. I try to add a few things a week that I think are entertaining but if you think they suck you can, as Dave says on his page, “feel free to never come back.”
Thanks!
-Rob
