End of the Phoenix Show

Friday, October 29th, 2010

I have more pictures and videos here, but this is my favorite.

7 Photographic Sins

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Okay so I might be guilty of a few of these myself, but they are mainly spot on, and should stop showing up in my facebook news feed.  If anyone is more bitter about life than me, its the Oatmeal, so I’m glad to have him around.

This is a Problem.

I Got All This Cause I’m Faaast

Nice, das nice!

Bad Ass Train

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

This is a picture of the train my dad was hopping on headed to work this morning, well, technically tomorrow morning his time.

Just started service on Tuesday, goes from Hangzhou to Shanghai at 275 miles per hour. By comparison your average commercial jet flies around 500mph, the Acela averages 70mph (with a max of 150mph) and the T operates around 2mph, just slightly slower than walking speed.

New Music Friday

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

TGIF, am I right? AM I RIGHT??  Okay, well whatever, here are some new tunes that you probably won’t hear at my party this weekend, unless Joe or I get really saucy on the ones and twos Saturday night.

Parry Gripp – Baby Monkey (Going Backwards on a Pig)

Simply put: Musical genius.

Christopher Cross – Ride Like the Wind

Does anyone know why the “budda bah bah, bah bahhh” (shut up don’t know how to translate that into words) in the chorus sounds so familiar? Is it from this song or another one? Driving me out of my mind why I can’t place this. And oh yeah, the song rules.

Redman and Method Man – Blow Your Mind (live in Paris)

90′s music shout out! This is a clip from a friend of a friend’s ski video edit, $20 for whoever can send me the full length version of this song, from this live set, I have the studio version which isn’t as “mind blowing” <-- see what I did there?? Anyway, the beat is one the best I've heard, not to mention this edit is sick.

Side note: who’s stoked to hit the slopes? If you are fb friends with me, you’ve probably noticed I’m mildly interested in the start of the season.

Asian Culture Befuddles Me

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

After spending three weeks in China, I can easily say nothing I hear about the East will surprise me. Especially not McDonald’s weddings. There is literally no way to describe the number of wedding related stores and McDonald’s they have out in China inside of major metropolitan areas. It was only natural to pair the two in my mind, so this was actually probably a long time coming.

Now, live crabs in vending machines.. can’t say it surprises me, but didn’t see it coming.

New Music Friday: Two Door Cinema Club & Phoenix

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Disclaimer: None of these songs are new, at all. However, both these bands are headed to Agannis Monday, and if you don’t have tickets you should get some because its going to rule.

The opening act is a group call Two Door Cinema Club, and though most people in the ‘States don’t know them, they are pretty solid. Definitely one of the best opening acts anyone attending this show will see.

Undercover Martyn

Something Good Can Work

And then there is Phoenix, if you don’t know them you should promptly close your browser window and please never return to my website. Haven’t seen them in person but everyone that has said their shows are awesome, and I’m sure this one in such a small venue won’t disappoint.

1901

If I Ever Feel Better (this is one of their old school songs, Katie will probably cry if they don’t play it)

Lasso

New Music Friday

Friday, October 8th, 2010

It’s finally nice out again, but in case anyone is wondering what being in London is like, its like this week has been, all the time.  Gross.  Kind of glad I had that reminder last week since I was getting sad about not moving there when I had the chance.  Also everything is 3x more expensive.  Great to visit, but living/working there is rough.  Anyway, if the sun hasn’t done it already, on to some tunes that will certainly cheer you up and hey, its the weekend! Get rowdy! Take off your pants and party!  Er, uh, actually, well whatever, I’ll stick with that.  Enjoy!

The Silver Seas – What’s the Drawback

Thanks to Kurt for this one (<-shout out!). I would like to classify this one as “funky chill” but Kurt has a more apt comparison; Steely Dan. Agreed.

The Wombats – Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)

Cali Swag District- Teach me How To Dougie

Yeah this song is everywhere, but not with a PANDA doing it. Thanks to Katie for the instructional video from the zoo.

Bed Intruder Song – Itunes Version

Well I posted this a while ago, but just because its awesome, here it is again.

The Double Rainbow Song

Not sure how long this version of the Double Rainbow video has been out, I might be behind the times, but I just found this, and I’m into it.

Andy on ‘the facebook movie’

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

a: “Yes, there’s a lot of coding in this movie; as well as attractive women who love coding, and code related activity. It’s all right up your alley.”

r: “Despite popular belief that is apparently being perpetuated by this film, my years of programming, hacking and general computer nerdery have not yielded a similar response.  I figured, when I first got into computers, that I would literally have ladies lining up at my keyboard to get a piece of the action.  Sadly, that is far from the case, and most women’s (and men’s) eyes generally glaze over with boredom when I attempt to explain what I do.  I usually just say “consultant” when people ask now.”
