The internet is a very, very dangerous place. The safest thing to do is probably keep your computer turned off and unplugged completely, but then how would you go on facebook, download pornography and watch youtube videos of cats on Roombas? I know those are the only things the internet is useful for, and though limited in functionality, those three things it provides are integral parts of all people’s lives. Thankfully, today the Boston Globe published an article on how to safeguard your computer from internet crooks like the one who nearly swindled Mikey through Mary’s facebook account the other day.
Some useful excerpts from the article in case you don’t have time to read it all yourself (though I highly recommend you do, for you, your family and friend’s safety):
“Once it’s powered up and linked to the Internet, crooks from around the world go to work.”
“Which reminds me – never install software from the Internet…”
